Chiropractic Care & Pre-Conception

Chiropractic care is used to help restore balance to the body and optimize the functioning of the nervous system. During your Initial Visit, we will go through a detailed history, physical examination and care plan to help determine the appropriate treatment for your body. During this process, we will be looking to areas of the spine for joint restrictions and decreased mobility as well as, any soft tissues including muscles, tendons and ligaments that may not be functioning optimally.

Chiropractic Care During Pregnancy

Chiropractic is concerned with the structural relationship between the spine, pelvis, and nervous system. During pregnancy, a woman’s body undergoes dramatic changes, both structurally, chemically (hormones), and emotionally.  Chiropractic may help make pregnancy more comfortable, more enjoyable, and prepare the body for birth.

The body experiences very rapid changes during pregnancy (increased weight gain, change in posture, and increased hormones which relax stabilizing ligaments).  The changes are vital for growth and arrival of baby, but they can also interfere with other areas of life. At least 50% of pregnant women will experience some sort of back pain, with many suffering from severe discomfort that impacts their activities of daily living. Altered biomechanics put stress on the back, hips, knees and feet/ankles. As the baby grows and the uterus expands, the abdominal muscles also stretch and lose their ability to support as they did. The change in posture, shifting forward, may cause pain and discomfort specifically in the lower back, hips and pelvis.

Chiropractic care is a gentle, effective and non-invasive approach to correcting and stabilizing the spine and pelvis. Completely safe throughout all stages of pregnancy, chiropractic care can help the body function optimally during this special time.
